ONE STEP BEYOND SUNDAY
Choose Your Opportunity
Each experience is welcoming, well-led, and designed to help you serve alongside others. Choose one that fits your schedule, bring someone with you, and meet some of the neighbors God has given us to love.
Fiesta Friday
Spend an evening sharing games, conversation, and friendship with teens and adults with special needs. Volunteers participate alongside our neighbors and help create a welcoming environment. No special experience is required; a coordinator will help everyone find a comfortable role.
Hope Lodge Meals
Help provide and serve dinner for cancer patients and caregivers staying at Hope Lodge while receiving treatment in Lubbock. The team will prepare the meal, visit with guests as appropriate, and clean up together. Expect a relaxed evening centered on hospitality and encouragement.
Foster Parent Night Out
Serve as a nursery or kids volunteer while foster parents enjoy a night out. Volunteers help create a safe, playful evening where children can connect and parents can rest. Choose from nursery, ages 3–5, 6–9, or 10–13.
Special Needs Ministry
Serve during a Sunday Bible class alongside an experienced coordinator. Help create a calm, welcoming environment where adults with special needs can learn, participate, and build friendships. You can try one Sunday without making an ongoing commitment.
Family Promise
Bring your family for an evening of activities and play with children whose families are participating in Family Promise. Come ready to share simple games, crafts, or another favorite activity. Space is limited to three Monterey families or households each evening.
Open Door Block Cleanup
Work alongside Open Door and neighborhood residents to clean and care for the surrounding block. Projects may include picking up litter, sweeping, light yardwork, and other simple tasks identified by our community partner. Come ready to work outdoors and meet neighbors.
Threads of Love
Help create comforting handmade items for families facing premature birth or infant loss. Experienced volunteers will guide the work, so you do not need to arrive with advanced sewing skills. Some roles may include organizing materials or assisting with simple assembly.
Meals on Wheels
Join Monterey’s Tuesday route to deliver meals and a friendly visit to homebound neighbors throughout Lubbock. Meet the team at Meals on Wheels before the route begins. A regular volunteer will guide first-time participants through the process.
Home Helpers
Explore practical ways to help older adults, people with disabilities, and others remain safely at home. Future projects may include yardwork, cleanup, moving small items, or simple household repairs. Come to the interest meeting to hear the vision, help identify useful skills, and consider whether this emerging ministry might be a good fit.
Registration links and final meeting details will be added as they are confirmed. Space may be limited for some opportunities.
