SUNDAY TEACHER RESOURCES

FALL 2026

Our whole church will be walking through the same story together reading all four Gospels over a 40-day period — Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. We will be providing a reading guide (physical & digital) along with a listening podcast for each week's reading, read by our own Monterey people. This study will coordinate the sermons and bible classes during this 40-day period.

  • Sermon - Each week our sermon will focus on a smaller story from the Gospel reading for that week.

  • Classes - Every week we'll talk through the readings for that section briefly, giving context and then sitting in some scriptures that best exemplify a theme from that section of that week's Gospel reading. Classes will be MUCH MORE discussion oriented. If the class kept up reading, great. If they didn't get to it, or someone is just now joining us, they are just as welcome. Nobody is checking attendance on the reading plan at the door.

  • Here's the rhythm: a daily reading guide gets you through all four Gospels, the Sunday sermon each week preaches through that same section but only one small story from that section, and our class digs into the whole theme of the section further with discussion.

  • WEEK ONE - Week 1 is an introduction to the series and will include an overview of all 4 gospels.

  • WEEK TWO - WEEK SEVEN - Will focus on a theme from the reading that week. Each theme will be taught with a main scripture portraying that theme along with supporting texts. You will spend most of your time facilitating conversation over the texts and theme from the reading that week. Our desire is for the classes to have good conversation about spending time with Jesus.
